Created by royal decree in 1369 DR, the Loyal Order of Innocents is the youngest knightly order in Tethyr. Headquartered in Darromar, this order of knights and clergy serves Torm. Though small in numbers, they count among their number several important and influential members, such as the Queen's personal bodyguard and friend Shield of Innocence.
The Loyal Order of Innocents is commanded by his Lordship Ellem Sunspear II, elder brother of the man who used to rule County Bardshyr before it was given to Thallatos. Though he was originally heir to the title Count of Bardshyr, Ellem chose to dedicate himself to Torm and allowed the title to fall to his younger brother Lhorik Sunspear, the queen's Trade Chancellor.

I didn't know Shield of Innocence was part of a knight order, but not terribly surprised. Was it named after him?

Sort of. In Forgotten Realms canon he actually died protecting the queen, and she asked them to make Shield of Innocence a martyr of the church when she created the order. I guess I must not have realized he was supposed to be dead, because I've had him appear in the game once before. So what I'm going with is that he did die but was resurrected and continues to serve as the Queen's protector. And then was made part of the Order.

Yep I remember you mentioning that before, but makes sense he would be brought back to continue protecting her.

Though honestly it's somewhat symbolic. She's more than capable of protecting herself.
