Myratma is a coastal city in the southwestern tip of Tethyr, almost into Calimshan. It's located on the mouth of the River Ith, directly north of the Calishite city of Memnon.
Myratma boasts a population of over 50,000, making it the fourth largest city in Tethyr. Being so close to Calimshan, Myratma has a heavier Calishite cultural influence than the rest of Tethyr, and it shows.
As the port through which most of Tethyr's agricultural exports flow, Myratma is a prosperous city. However, being the home of a rebellious noble family in the recent past has left a black mark on the city, and the city as a whole has been fighting to reclaim its honor since then.
There are few arcane spellcasters of any kind in Myratma, as most of them can find better employment and opportunities across the border in Calimshan. However, the city has a unique force known as the Jaguar Guard, a noble group of warriors from the distant continent of Maztica, across the western sea.

Myratma also contains an outpost of the Silver Shield Mercenary Guild, which opened there in 1374 (last year).

Until recently, significant portions of Myratma were under the control of several thieves' guilds. For years the most powerful guild in Myratma was the Shadow Thieves, who in fact had cells all throughout southern and western Faerun. However, in recent years they had lost much of their territory within the city to the other guilds, and by mid-1375 had been eradicated entirely in Myratma.
After the decline of the Shadow Thieves, the majority of Tethyr's underworld was controlled by four guilds: the Eyes of Night, the Bone Claws, the Whisperknives, and the Red Lotus. However, in mid-Eleint of 1375 a series of events occurred which resulted in the near-total destruction of all but the Whisperknives.
In addition, King Haedrak III uncovered signs of corruption within the government of Myratma, possibly even as high-placed as the city's ruling council. As a result of the upheaval, King Haedrak suspended the council's authority and assumed direct rule of the city. Presently, he maintains law and order directly, while simultaneously performing a systematic investigation of every single government official in Myratma in attempts to root out the corrupt.
