Raina Scarlett was captain of the pirate fleet that attacked the small town where a food caravan from Waterdeep was hiding. The pirates' stated goal was to raid the caravan and take the food, which they would then sell back to Tethyr at higher cost.
Raina herself stands about 5'5", with a lean athletic build. Her shoulder-length hair is brown, except for the last inch or so which is dyed red. Her skin is tanned from spending a lot of time in the sun, and her green eyes are usually fixed in a hard stare.
Before her capture, she wore a red jacket with gold trim over her mithral chain shirt. Over the jacket she wore a red and white cape, and a silver necklace with a silver badge depicting a fortress.
Her pirate flag was red, with a black skull, and underneath it a crossed sword and hammer, representative of Raina's trademark longsword and warhammer, which she wore at her side when not using them in battle.
Her ship, the Scarlet Raptor, was sunk during the battle when Tyrrox flew through it at high speed, and now rests on the ocean floor in the bay outside the small village. Also in her fleet were several smaller vessels, most of which were captured or left on the bank when the pirates disembarked to attack the town.
Raina had two standout companions on her ship: a hulking orog and an aquatic elven woman. Though she remained mostly quiet during her captivity, she happened to mention their names.
Kadaash was the orog, who was killed in an underwater melee against Tyrrox even while the Scarlet Raptor was beginning to sink into the harbor. Kadaash wore magical bracers that allowed him to wield a greathammer that would ordinarily be too large even for a hulking Deep Orc like himself. The hammer was sold to Laffy Kilos in Zazesspur, but the bracers are now worn by Tyrrox.
Nausicaa was the aquatic elf, who made an attempt to rescue Raina from her captivity at the hands of Vanemuine and Torgeth. Nausicaa was defeated and fell into the ocean, definitely unconscoius and possibly dead. However, her body was never found.
Raina has spoken of Kadaash as simply her bodyguard, but regarded Nausicaa as her best friend. The aquatic elf seems to have had some connection to air elementals, possibly being a half-elemental. The best evidence for this idea comes from the fact that her hair seemed to constantly blow in the wind, even as there was little if any breeze coming in off the ocean at the time of the battle.
Raina Scarlett was taken prisoner during the battle, avoiding the fate that the rest of her crew suffered. She was initially captured by Torgeth, who attempted and failed to convince her to join up with the party. Eventually custody of the pirate captain was taken over by Thallatos, who was less violent in his treatment of her but brought her along to Zazesspur.
In Zazesspur, Raina was forced to wait outside Laffy Kilos's shop with Thallatos's "lepers" while her possessions were sold off inside. However, while this was going on she was approached by a city guardsman, who ordered the lepers out of the city. The guardsman repeated this order to Thallatos when he came outside.
Raina was released into Zazesspur alone, with nonmagical replacements for her weapons. Her fate after that remains unknown.
